Ophidian Convolutions

Highlights from 2006

As per the meme I did last year around this time, here are some highlights from 2006:

This year I...
January: ... wrote a short, somewhat-amusing piece about theologian Richard Swinburne's understanding of hell and some unexpected implications of his ideas.
February: ... waxed eloquent about what Satanism means to me.
March: ... saw Sisters of Mercy in concert.
April: ... was visited by my friend Stoo from the UK.
May: ... defended my decisions with regard to Chimera: War Beast.
June: ... went to Wave Gotik Treffen with wrappedinmetal and morbid_silence.
July: ... in this quiz, mentioned for the first time that I am dating the Lord of the Universe.
August: ... ranted about one of my most violent pet peeves: generalizing about "all women/men."
September: ... found Something Awful's 'Murderchurch' msn prank to be extremely entertaining.
October: ... went to Philadelphia for an academic conference.
November: ... moved into my condo.
December: ... was reunited with my beloved.

And again, as per the last time I did this, here are all my playlists from this year (Chimera, unless otherwise noted):
February 22 (Dead Man's Wheelchair)
March 20 (First Chimera)
April 10
April 22 (Chimera "Special Edition")
May 8
May 20 (Chimera "War Beast")
June 12
July 10
July 16 (Breast Cancer benefit)
July 22 (Chimera "Terror of the High Seas")
August 14
September 11
October 9
October 31 (Chimera "Cybernetic Mutant")
November 20
December 11

Coolness...

Your post regarding Swinburne's commentary on Hell reminded me of the orthodox take on Hell, which is suitably poetic. Since there can ultimately be nothing but God, and since God cannot be nowhere, Hell is to be in the presence of Beatific Vision and not wanting to be. There is no choice about being with God, just as there was no choice about being in the world, and whether that is Heaven or Hell depends on your relationship to it.

Morning. As I imagine you will soon gather from the post I am to write after this (or in fact may already have gathered though that is less likely) my life is again/still interesting.

Though you are not absent from my thoughts the lack of contact has hardly been fatal and I doubt it will prevent us resuming contact when circumstances allow (and stars align etc).

Be well.
