Myth (i.e. Angellic History)
Note: The "present" of the novel is Second Aeon, 1999. Each Aeon is 2000 years long.

Appearance of Humans
(First Aeon, about 4000 years in the past)
Sometime after the Nameless One created Anihkesh and Enuzir, who in turn made the Naia, Jenisi and Sylfae, these Angels created life on Rhadixe - plants, animals and humans respectively. First Aeon marks the beginning of human life on Rhadixe. At first, humans worshipped only the Sylfae, but over time some turned to the Naia and Jenisi. As a result, the Naia and Jenisi began to argue with the Sylfae as to how best to guide humanity, with the result that humanity was divided between the three races of Angels, and marked accordingly via a similar separation into races/religions. They were also separated physically, the Naia's followers departing for Lune and the Jenisi adherents to Sol, leaving the followers of the Sylfae in the original human homeland of Celes.
Appearance of the Daemons
(First Aeon, about 3000 years in the past)
The Daemons arose spontaneously from the Nameless One. They created the Kimerae on Rhadixe. The Kimerae, especially the humanoid, shape-shifting Lamia, interacted with humans and taught them magic and other arts which had previously been known only to the Angels. In accordance with the precedent established by the other Angels, the Daemons marked their humans, thereby creating the Tenebrae race - known prior to their departure for Teneb as "the Witch-fiends." Other humans feared the Tenebrae and their non-human companions, ultimately resulting in much bloodshed.
War Amongst the Angels
(End of First/Start of Second Aeon, about 2000 years in the past)
The Angels asked Anihkesh and Enuzir what they should do about the Daemons and their Kimerae and Witch-fiend followers: seek compromise or try to wipe them out before they multiply further. But the Goddess and God were unable to agree on a course of action. Enuzir ultimately construed Anihkesh's desire to avoid war as evidence that she herself had been corrupted by the Daemons. In rage he tried to destroy them, but Anihkesh intervened and was badly injured. In terror, the Daemons fled to Malsophos and took Anihkesh with them to protect her from Enuzir. With the last of her power, Anihkesh aided the Daemons in creating a haven for the Kimerae and their human companions on Rhadixe - the new continent at the nadir of the world which would become known as Teneb. This done, Anihkesh finally faded and drifted downward into the Astral Desert. (This event occurs around year 1 of the Second Aeon). Holding the Daemons responsible for the loss of Anihkesh, Enuzir turned his wrath against the Daemons' creator - forgetting, in his madness, that originally he too was created by the Nameless One. He merged the Jenisi and the Sylfae to create the Luminaries, and sent this army in force against the Nameless One and its Daemon defenders. The Daemons multiply rapidly though, so for Enuzir progress proved maddeningly slow.
Thiyavat's Angellic Life
(Second Aeon, 16th-17th centuries onward, about 400-500 years in the past)
Enuzir created Thiyavat from a mixture of his own energy and that of captured Daemons. He intended that she act as a magical effigy for the Nameless One, thereby allowing Enuzir to attack it directly (as opposed to first hacking through all the Daemons' protection magic). But Thiyavat rebeled and went over to the Daemons herself. The Luminaries recaptured her, and after failing to re-secure her loyalty, Enuzir decided to destroy her rather than risk further complications. He dismembered her Angellic body and used it to make Saraguel. But a small spark of Thiyavat's consciousness survived, and became incarnated with the help of Jairus' magic. In this way, Sin Invokasha came into the human world.
Angellic Factors in the Invasion of Teneb
(Second Aeon, dawn of the 19th century, 200 years in the past)
Knowing that the power of the Tenebrae lies primarily in their magic, Enuzir devised a way to cut Rhadixe off from the energy flow of the upper worlds, from which the vast majority of magic derives. Sin, Jairus and Kiyoko attempted to stop him, but they did not succeed. As a result, it appeared to the Tenebrae authorities at the time that Sin's ritual attempt to stop Enuzir was in fact the cause, at least in part, of the disappearance of magic. These damning circumstances, combined with the destruction of Teneb's capital, Drakhara, by the Celesti and Solari, all contributed to Sin's disappearance and apparent death.
