FAQ
1) What kind of music is played at Pandaemonium?
A wide range of metal (classic, thrash, power, NWOBHM, black, gothic, alternative, melodic death, etc.) as well as industrial rock, industrial metal, aggro-industrial and powernoise. "Extreme" / technical death metal is also played on rare occasions but the DJ does not specialize in this genre. Bands commonly played include: Black Sabbath, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, FGFC820, Finntroll, In Flames, Iron Maiden, KMFDM, The Kovenant, Marilyn Manson, Metallica, Ministry, Nightwish, NIN, Psyclon Nine, Rammstein, Slayer, Suicide Commando, Symphony X, Terrorfakt, Xebox
2) What is the crowd like at Pandaemonium?
Pandaemonium's target audience includes metalheads and rivetheads. There is no dress code and anyone who enjoys metal and/or harsher industrial music is welcome.
3) I go to Chimera. Would I like Pandaemonium?
If you go to Chimera, you are most likely to like Pandaemonium if you enjoy one or more of the following:
4) Who is the DJ?
The DJ is DJ Jinx, who is also the event organizer. She has been DJing in the goth-industrial scene since 2001, and has been running Chimera since 2006. She is not on Facebook or on Myspace, but can be contacted at this e-mail address.
5) What is the door policy?
Cover for regular Pandaemonium events is $4. This cover applies to all attendees with the exception of staff, e.g. door helpers and guest DJs. Since guest DJing is unpaid at this time, free entry for a small party of the guest DJ's friends may be negotiated in some circumstances, e.g. if both the guest DJ and those accompanying him/her are from out of town and arrangements are made in advance with DJ Jinx. Business partners of Soda will be admitted freely when they are there to discuss matters with the owner, and "free entry passes" may be made available to select individuals on some occasions. However, there is no "guest list," i.e. free entry based solely on claims of "I know so-and-so." Deceptive attempts to gain entry without paying cover will not be tolerated.
6) People are being mean to me on the facebook group. Who can I complain to?
DJ Jinx is not on facebook, and is thus not affiliated with the facebook group for Pandaemonium. Furthermore, it should be understood that opinions exchanged on the facebook group do not necessarily reflect the views of the DJ/event organizer. Please contact the facebook admins if you have a problem.
7) I'm in a metal/industrial band - can I play a show at Pandaemonium sometime?
Please contact DJ Jinx and she will look into booking a separate date at Soda for your show. The advantage of this arrangement is that your concert can be promoted during the Pandaemonium and/or Chimera events. That said, in contrast to Chimera, in some cases bands may be booked for the actual night of Pandaemonium.
8) What is the guest DJ policy at Pandaemonium?
While the primary DJ for Pandaemonium is DJ Jinx, there may be guest DJs on occasion, particularly at special events. In such cases, the DJs will switch after every five songs and DJ Jinx will focus on the opposite genre of the guest DJs (e.g. industrial if they are metal-specialized, and metal if they are industrial-specialized) in order to maintain the overall genre balance at Pandaemonium. Please note that at this time, guest DJing is on a volunteer basis unless other terms are explicitly agreed to. That said however, Pandaemonium is much more aggressively seeking guest DJs than is Chimera, so please do contact DJ Jinx if you are interested.
9) Why don't you answer my e-mail messages?
DJ Jinx is also a graduate student / university lecturer, and her workload occasionally results in poor response times. Nonetheless, she appreciates your feedback; apologies if she fails to get back to you promptly.
